SESSION is Jordan and Jeremiah Poytress, Patrick Raley and Codie Collins. The band was formed in late November 2009. Session plays rock music with influence from soul, funk, and psychedelic rock. Anyone who hears this band instantly hears their unique style and edge to the way they create and play music.
All members of the band were born and raised in the small farming town of Fowler, CA. Jordan and Patrick began playing music together in high school, and Jordan’s younger brother Jeremiah was inspired and started playing guitar. Years later when Jeremiah was trying to start a band he asked Patrick if he’d play bass. The two began playing with various musicians, and eventually Jordan came back in to the picture. The three auditioned numerous drummers, but it wasn’t until Jeremiah asked Codie to come jam one day that SESSION was complete.
The chemistry between the four was instantly noticeable and they began building a fan base by playing house parties and open mic nights in and around Fresno, CA. Known for only playing original music, the band has built a very loyal and local following while playing just about every venue you could play in Fresno throughout 2010 and 2011.
Towards the end of 2011, SESSION entered and won the New Rock 104.1’s Battle of the Bands, a 3 round competition spanning a month and a half with more than 40 bands participating, earning them the title as The 2012 House Band for the radio station.
Soon after the band played on the main stage at The Rockin’ Roots 2012 Music Festival, and has since opened for acts like Bush, Unwritten Law, Project 86, and The Stone Foxes.
With 2013 just around the corner, SESSION’s plans include touring across America to spread their music, and recording more material.
